Nazi fear mongering

I will get a bit personal with you today, and speak some of my cultural roots and formative years as a child. Although I was born in Sweden both my parents were immigrants from Poland since the early 1960’s. Since my infancy my parents took me to Poland each year to meet with my relatives all over the country. There I heard lots of stories about the Second World War which fascinated me as a youngster. In the 1970’s and 1980’s that terrible war was still overshadowing polish mentality, as the living stories of survivors from that war were still vivid. Most of my relatives, including my parents, had vivid experiences of both German and Russian occupation, and in particular the former. My relatives on both my parents sides were engaged, either directly or indirectly, in the war to defend and later to help free Poland from German occupation and Nazi oppression.

My grandfather on my mother’s side was a member of the Communist partisan movement or the Armia Ludowa (“Peoples Army”) or AL, being loyal to Stalin; he even gave me his medal (given to all participants of this organization after the war) when I was a young boy, which was a great honour for me back then (unfortunately I have lost that medal). My grandfather on my father’s side, as well as all of my father’s uncles, were members of the Armia Krajowa (“The National Army”) or AK which was based on the remnants of the defeated Polish Army and loyal to the Polish government in exile. One of my father’s uncles had served as a cavalry officer in the Polish army, and when that army were defeated by the German war machine in 1939 he fled to his village (riding his horse to death) and together with my grandfather helped set up the local partisan movement in and around Wilno (today the capital of Lithuania and then a Polish city).

My father as well became a member of the AK, serving as a soldier in his early teens and fighting the Germans. As such he participated in the assassination of a Nazi collaborator and governor in his home village. Of course these experiences put a great mark on my father’s soul; he became a recluse and seldom talked much, and related to his children even less. As a child I both pitied him and admired him for his valour. Although my best friend admired my father as a hero, to me he was a quite sad and pitiful figure. However, all of these stories told by him and his polish relatives had a great impact on me and my formative years. Later in life I served my country as a professional career soldier and went through the Swedish military academy to become a Commissioned Officer.

During my childhood I had a great longing to be recognized by my father who were emotionally absent during most of my life; all I wanted was for him to be proud of me. For the first time in my life I received that recognition and saw the proud expression on his face when I graduated after my military academy. After that all of the magic surrounding military life just vanished in an instant. I soon quit my military career and only a couple of years later found real magic in my life, i.e. that of the Hermetic Tradition and the Golden Dawn.

I do realize that by exposing my private history in this way and some of my psychodynamics my detractors may take advantage of this and say that all I do in my Order is to find a absent father figure, obeying the commands of my Chiefs like a loyal soldier, or some similar pseudo-analysis. Well, I do not care what they say. They don’t know me well enough to pass such a judgement. Besides, fear that my personality or ego is at stake is not the issue here at all.

Now, why am I telling you this story? I will explain to you why. A couple of days ago Nick Farrell posted a blog accusing the members of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega® of being “brown shirts”, together with pictures of Nazi stormtroopers burning books, clearly referring to the strong reactions coming lately from our Order membership at Amazon regarding his latest book on S.L. MacGregor Mathers and his Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega, and in particular the introduction to that book which states the purpose of its publication in a very straight forward manner (I have highlighted the parts that the members of the Alpha et Omega® have found objectionable):
By the tail end of the 20th century this availability of information enabled various re enactment groups to be established. Some of these groups are sound with membership dedicated to performing the laudable goals of self-development and spiritual awakening. Unfortunately, other groups border on religious or political cults, typically centred upon a single leader. These latter groups often evoke the turbulent history of the original order to justify the structures and cult of personality they wish to build. These “mythicians” claim that the original Golden Dawn floundered because the majority of its members discarded the rule of founder and chief Samuel “MacGregor" Mathers. Typically, such groups claim a link to that section of the Golden Dawn Order, which continued to acknowledge Mathers as its Chief and was later known as: the Alpha et Omega, or AO. Occasionally, such leaders claim to be the living incarnation of MacGregor Mathers himself. Lately, there have even been those who claim to be in communication with the same Secret Chiefs that inspired Mathers. Mathers' ghost and his mythically perfect AO enable them to claim that somehow their product is superior. That unlike the other Golden Dawn products, they have rituals and teachings re-rewritten by the real genius behind the Order, Mathers.
In that same blog post members, obviously being appalled by this clear attack on their Order, reacted with sincerity asking such simple questions such as why Mr. Farrell accuses the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega® as being a religious or political cult and a personality cult. Mr. Farrell refused to answer their adequate questions and instead tried to crawl away from the heat stating that he was referring to Robert Zink’s now defunct Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn. However, notice that Mr. Farrell is referring to late 20th Century groups in present tense. Had he referred to Zink’s EOGD he would have talked about it in past tense as the EOGD now is a Order without any Temples (it’s only Zink talking to himself).

Note also specifically that sentence which states that “Lately, there have even been those who claim to be in communication with the same Secret Chiefs that inspired Mathers”. Who else as of lately has claimed such a contact with MacGregor Mathers’ Secret Chiefs other than the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega®? If you make a simple google search you will see that there are non.

Nick Farrell likening the members of the A.O. to being Nazi storm troopers

I of course took Mr. Farrell’s nazi references quite personally, considering my native history, and when I pointed that out to Mr. Farrell on his blog and urging him to answer these questions instead of resorting to such a futile escape route he simply deleted all of the comments from Alpha et Omega’s members, while keeping all of the inflammatory comments against their Order or expressed opinions. It is strange though that a man defending his right to express himself in writing, being a journalist by profession, denies the same right of his critics to express themselves over at his blog and also on Amazon. Although he states at the head of his blog that “Comments on this site are welcome but generally I will delete those made anonymously or any posts if they are seen to attack anyone” he has always allowed comments written either by anonymous trolls or others attacking the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega®. So, I guess that this rule only applies to members of the Alpha et Omega® but not to anonymous blog trolls attacking them and their Chiefs? How is that for journalistic objectivity?

To me it is beyond any doubt that Mr. Farrell has only had one single purpose with the publication of his latest two books on S.L. MacGregor Mathers and his Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega, that of attacking the legitimate heir of Mathers’ Order, i.e. the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Outer Order of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega® (H.O.G.D./A+O). He is driven by some sort of envy of the supposed superiority of MacGregor Mathers’s Alpha et Omega, trying to compensate that in his books. All over his writing there is only one theme, that of the Magic of the Golden Dawn having died out with MacGregor Mathers’ Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega and that it was “inherited” and “further developed” only in R.W. Felkin’s Stella Matutina, igonoring the fact that the Stella Matutina was developed further thank’s to the aid of Rudolf Steiner. More than this, he has even proposed that MacGregor Mathers stooped down to sheer evil and created magical obstacles barring the spiritual progress of his initiates, because of fear of future revolts. If you want to read about his ludicrous theories may I please refer you to my Historical Revisionism in the Golden Dawn – Part 1 and Part 2 of a critical review of ‘Mathers’ Last Secret’.

Nick Farrell likening the members of the A.O. to being "brown shirts"

Now, Mr. Farrell has stooped futher down in his rhetoric accusing me and my brethren and sisters of being “brown shirts”, which is clearly a below the belt attack. He has crossed the line once again and shown his own true colours more obvious than ever before. Mr. Farrell should be well aware that not only does he through me insult my own grand fathers, their uncles and my own old man, who fought against Adolf Hitler and his Nazi War Machine in the Second World War defending their Polish Motherland and becoming human wrecks in the process. He should also be aware that our Order has many members from Germany as well who find these allegations not the least amusing. I know from my own experience in meeting Germans that the Second World War still is an open wound in the German group mind. So likening my dear fellow German brethren and sisters to Nazi stormtroopers is similar to casting salt into an open wound. Mr. Farrell should be ashamed of himself for stooping down to this level.
